Forests for Friends
Group is composed of two independent firms: the mother company Forests for Friends Ltd and the daughter company Forests for Friends Panama Inc.
The company’s main aim is the sustainable management of agricultural and forestry plantations, the secuestration of CO2 on the existing plantations, and the trade of agricultural and forestry products, particularly in connexion with tropical hardwood.
Forests for Friends Ltd
is a Swiss shareholding company
based in Glarus, Switzerland. It was
incorporated on 20th June, 2006, in the
Commercial register (excerpt
of Commercial registry, German only,
PDF, 260 KB).
The Board is responsible for the governance of the company.
Management and administration is delegated
to the company Vorausdenken. Over all, this
will require less than one full-time
position.
The management of the shares register,
accounting and legal advice have been
outsourced.
Forests for Friends Panama Inc.
owns large teak plantations in Panama.
It is a wholly-owned daughter of Forests for
Friends Ltd.

Board Members
Dr. Carol Franklin Engler, Chairman of the Board, maximum 20 % on a contract basis
Born 1951, Swiss and British citizen. Worked with Swiss Re (as Head of Aviation, Head of Group Human Resources, Member of the Executive Board Division Europe) for 20 years, was Executive Director of WWF (World-Wide Fund for Nature) Switzerland for 3 years. Currently partner in Vorausdenken, a consulting company for sustainable development.
Romano Costa
Born 1970, Swiss citizen. Dipl. Forest engineer ETH/SIA, MBA at the University of St.Gall. Owner of an engineering firm specialising in forest-environment-natural hazards. Up until end of 2008 auditor for FSC-forest certification. Manager of a reforestation project in Bolivia.
Ruedi Engler, Delegate of the Board on a contract basis
Born 1952, Swiss citizen. Officer in the Swiss Army (Colonel) for 18 years. Since 1996 self-employed consultant on disaster training for firms and communities. Partner in Vorausdenken.
Administration
Regina Canonica Markstahler, Assistent to management 30–40 %
Swiss citizen, Business economist HWV, several years of experience in organization and controlling.
